Welcome to the home stretch of my Get Your Rear In Gear fundraising campaign! The Get Your Rear In Gear race in Toledo is just three weeks away. The deadline to support my fundraising efforts is less than three weeks away.
In case you haven't checked out my fundraising page lately, the $1,000 barrier was crushed a while ago and my new goal of $2,500 is well within reach. So far, through great generosity and a couple of successful fundraisers, over $2,000 has been raised for colon cancer research, prevention, education, and therapy in memory of my mother.
Any gift large or small will go a long way. If you think a small gift is meaningless, take a look at my two fundraisers this spring. There were 22 participants in my March Madness contest and $154 was raised from each participant donating $5 from their entry fee and two participants donating their winnings. In April, I hosted a happy hour fundraiser at a small restaurant selling $1 raffle tickets and entries into a cornhole tournament. The host restaurant, Buona Vita, donated $2 for every vodka special sold that night. After everything was tallied, $320 was raised in just a few short hours. That's nearly $500 raised from $1 to $5 donations. Trust me, no gift is too small.
For everybody who has donated, words cannot express how much I appreciate your support. This is my first year raising money after running in a few Get Your Rear In Gear races and I didn't know what to expect. The gifts that have been made in memory of my mother are approaching $2,500, a goal I thought was a pie-in-the-sky number. The support has been overwhelming.
To commemorate Mother's Day, I donated $30 to Get Your Rear In Gear. I can think of no better way to remember and honor my mother than to support this cause. Please consider donating between now and May 30th. If you are in the Toledo area, please sign up to run or walk on June 2nd at the Fallen Timbers Shopping Center. This is a great organization and I want the inaugural race in Toledo to be a success.
Thank you and have a great Mother's Day weekend.
